Welcome to Year 1!

This term our topic in geography and history is 'Houses and Homes'. We will be learning about different types of houses in Geography and designing our own houses! We will also create a survey of the different houses around school. In History we will be looking at Victorian houses and how they are different to houses today.

Our writing will be linked to 'Nibbles the book monster!' We will create a diary entry as well as create a wanted poster for Nibbles! We will also look at different versions of Goldilocks, including 'Goldilocks and Just the One Bear'. We will retell this story and then write an information report about bears.

In maths we will be focussing on addition and subtraction. We will then move onto place value and measurement.

Our DT is food and we will explore different fruits and make our own fruit salads!

We will be studying 'Plants' in Science where we will look at the structure of different plants and flowers and also plant some sunflowers and cress. We will then move on to looking at 'Materials'.
