Class Information

Home Learning

All children in our class have a 'Home - School Link Book that travels between home and school.  Notes and messages can be added to this book as well as home learning each week. Your child will bring home a 'Share with Me' book for you to read to them as well as reading activities such as 'Fred Games', letter sound activities and our 'Rhyme of the Week'.  Books are changed each Friday as well as activities and talk homework added.

When you child starts in Reception, it is expected that they will read at least 3 times a week at home. Their Home School link book comes home each night and reading can be recorded in these.    When they recognise some letter sounds and are beginning to blend then they will bring a phonically decodable reading book matched to their ability.   Home School Link books are checked each day and each time your child reads at home, they get a tick to go towards their reading rainbow and the prize of choosing a book to keep!

Mathletics activities for Reception age children are set on a Friday and linked to learning in class.

PE

Oak Class PE is on a Wednesday and Friday.. Please make sure that your child has full PE kit in school - black shorts, plain white top and trainers or pumps. When the weather is cold, they may bring plain black tracksuit trousers and a sweatshirt to wear over the top of their PE kit. It is fine for your child to bring in their PE kit on a Monday and take it home on a Friday so that you always know they have it if they need it.

Forest School

Our forest school sessions are every Monday.  Please make sure  your child has their forest school kit - waterproof trousers and wellies or old trainers. A plastic bag for dirty shoes is useful to make it easy for your child to take their clothes home.
